The Dawgs of War: a Remembrance (Sept 15 Release Date)

The Dawgs of War

I’m happy to announce that The Dawgs of War: a Remembrance will be released on September 15th, 2009.  Pre-orders are now being accepted.  I have been working on this book since January 2008.  I’m real pleased with the end result.  I interviewed approximately 40 people for it and received repeated assistance from the likes of Marques Tuiasosopo, Kyle Benn, Willie Hurst, Matt Rogers, Derrell Daniels and David Williams.

I’m thankful for the editing of Dawn Cahoon and for Josh Foster’s great design of the cover.  Included in the book is some outstanding photography by Max Waugh among others.

I started writing Dawgs of War along the quiet waterfront of Belfair, Washington and typed the final words in the noisy commons area of Third Place Books in Seattle– while Art Thiel and Steve Rudman were discussing their new book to an audience a few feet away.  It was enjoyable to linger and listen to them talk some Husky Football History when my brain has been heavily occupied with the 2000 Rose Bowl season for so many months.

Football season is almost upon us.  It’s been a stressful year for the nation in general and football will hopefully provide the means for people to rally.

Here’s to a Las Vegas Bowl appearance for the long-suffering Huskies…
